Used camper shells work just as good as a new one, so if you can save some money, go for it. However, it is worth the trouble to find a shell that was on the same model truck as yours. The used camper shell market is big enough that it should not be a problem if your pick up is less than 15 years old. The reason for this is aerodynamics. A used camper shell that matches the contours of your truck will give you better gas mileage.
